New Cuenca–Galápagos Flight Options

Travelers planning to combine southern Ecuador with the Galápagos now have expanded flight options. As of November 2025, LATAM Airlines and Avianca offer routes connecting Cuenca with the Galápagos Islands via Quito or Guayaquil.

While these are not nonstop flights, they provide greater flexibility when linking Cuenca with Baltra or San Cristóbal. Flight schedules and frequencies are limited and may vary by airline and travel date. Total travel time depends on the connection city and layover duration.

Our team is happy to advise on routing, timing, and airline selection to ensure a smooth journey as part of your Ecuador or Galápagos itinerary. For personalized guidance, please reach out to your travel specialist.

Ecuador’s Devil’s Nose Train Route Reactivated

After five years of inactivity, Ecuador’s iconic Devil’s Nose train route—often called the “World’s Toughest Route”—will resume regular operations starting at the end of August 2025. This 12-kilometer engineering marvel, famous for its steep switchbacks and dramatic zigzag descent, offers travelers an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Andes.

Departing from Alausí Station, the train first pauses at the Devil’s Nose Lookout for ten minutes, providing sweeping views of mountains, chasms, and the Alausí River. Along the route, passengers may spot abandoned railroad cars, remnants of past accidents that stand as a testament to Ecuador’s railway history.

A 45-minute stop at Sibambe Station allows visitors to experience local culture firsthand. Enjoy traditional dances, browse handicrafts, and sample Ecuadorian cuisine. The return to Alausí Station is marked by music, food, and a variety of activities that celebrate the region’s vibrant heritage.

For travelers seeking a mix of adventure, history, and culture, the Devil’s Nose route is once again ready to deliver an extraordinary Andean experience.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Now Required for Travel to Colombia

A yellow fever outbreak in Colombia has prompted the government to mandate vaccination cards for travelers. Free vaccinations are offered to both citizens and foreigners at public health centers and designated sites, including a clinic at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá.

This is required of travelers arriving within six days of departing from, or connecting through, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Uganda; unless they’re transiting within 12 hours, if they do not depart from the transit areas. Those visiting high-risk areas in Colombia are recommended to be vaccinated at least ten days in advance.

The outbreak is concentrated in the Tolima region but has expanded to other areas, with 74 confirmed cases. The Colombian government has declared a national health emergency and launched a nationwide immunization campaign. If you have upcoming travel plans to Colombia, please consult with your healthcare provider about vaccination recommendations.

At Rebecca Adventure Travel, your safety comes first. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will keep you informed every step of the way.
