Before having kids I used to travel all the time and during the trips I would visit new hotels, do ALL activities available, and would meet guides and travelers. This small town in the middle of the cloud forest is the <strong>perfect escape into nature<\/strong> if you are done with the city. We stayed at Terrabambu, an eco-lodge just <strong>5 minutes outside town<\/strong>. The swimming pool was the number 1 highlight for the kids. There are also <strong>zip lines<\/strong> that you can use and a <strong>beautiful long-hanging bridge<\/strong>. It definitely was the perfect destination for a family adventure and <a title=\"Family Travel and Traveling with Friends: Why do it and How to Plan it\" href=\"https:\/\/rebeccaadventuretravel.com\/blog\/other\/how-to-plan-family-trips\/\">the ultimate expedition for the kids.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kids-friendly activities in Mindo<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are different kid-friendly activities in Mindo. My personal favorites;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mariposario<\/strong>; is the butterfly garden where you can walk around and enjoy all the beautiful (and BIG) butterflies. You can also have a delicious lunch here.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tarabita<\/strong>; about 10 minutes from Mindo village you find some lovely waterfalls and there is a cable cart going from one side to the other.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zip lining<\/strong>; there are different places where you can go zip lining with the kids. You can let your children go alone or go together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chocolate making is;<\/strong> short and interactive activity where they explain the process of the bean becoming a chocolate bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a title=\"Bird-watching\" href=\"https:\/\/rebeccaadventuretravel.com\/activities\/bird-watching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Hummingbird watching<\/strong><\/a>; Mindo is famous for a large number of hummingbirds. The <strong>sustainability-certified architect<\/strong> Veronica Reed built this<strong> eco-friendly property<\/strong> in the <strong>authentic fishermans\u2019 town<\/strong> of Santa Marianita. This village is known for its kite surf possibilities. Andres (my husband) loves kiting so we had to make a stop at the Humbold Kiting School. There were also <strong>lots of toys and places for the kids to play on the beach<\/strong>. My personal favorite is Casa Rosada. There are also different (family-friendly) cooking classes available.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pacoche rainforest;<\/strong> The incredible semi-dry forest is around 15 minutes from Manta and it is known for having a wide variety of wildlife. For sure a wonderful place whether you are looking for a solo or a family adventure.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a class=\"btn-view-all-trips\" title=\"19 Day Relax Ecuador\" href=\"https:\/\/rebeccaadventuretravel.com\/ecuador\/tour\/19-day-relax\/\">Start your own Ecuadorian Coast adventure!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"amazon-family-adventures-with-toddlers\">Amazon Family Adventures with Toddlers!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the <strong>most beautiful places in Ecuador<\/strong> for me is the <a title=\"Amazon Tours\" href=\"https:\/\/rebeccaadventuretravel.com\/ecuador\/amazon-tours\/\"><strong>Amazon Rainforest<\/strong><\/a>. So much <strong>nature<\/strong>, animals, and <strong>authentic local culture<\/strong> make it the perfect destination. We visited <a title=\"3 Day Amazon Napo Adventure\" href=\"https:\/\/rebeccaadventuretravel.com\/ecuador\/tour\/amazon-napo-adventure\/\">Kuyana Lodge<\/a>, a luxury eco-lodge close to Tena. Although there was a bit of rain, we still enjoyed it. The <strong>pool, the monkeys, the birds, and the chocolate-making experience was amazing<\/strong>. I would really recommend traveling to Tena since it is just 3 hours from Quito and it is the perfect getaway.
